Bothies

There six bothies along the Southern Upland Way, some of which are maintained by the Ranger Service.
    • Bothies only offer very basic shelter.
    • You will need to supply your own water.
    • Bothies, due to their remoteness do not have toilet facilities.
    • Bothies are not staffed and the condition of the bothy very much depends upon the previous users so please leave them as you would like to find them.

Firewood is sometimes available, however, this depends upon the generosity of the previous occupants.

For information on wild camping see: SUW Wild Camping

The Mountain Bothy Association (MBA) was founded in 1965 to maintain simple unlocked shelters in remote places throughout country.
